The Music Business Watch's A&R Registry is a staple in the music industry, acting as a contact directory for the who's who of the music industry across the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia. PonderRosa Studios in Lafayette, NJ was given the opportunity to be showcased in a writeup within the A&R Registry, so they reached out to me to get some fresh shots of the studio to showcase their state of the art space.
Recently, I was invited to capture the baptism of the newest Dempsey, who we'll call "Baby Dempsey" for the sake of the family's privacy. I made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, a quaint building in the Bay Ridge neighborhood in Brooklyn, early on a perfect Sunday morning to meet the Dempsey family -- even Sarah's parents who flew all the way out from Washington State for the event! Pastor Wade Miller performed the baptism, and he was incredibly welcoming to my camera and I.
If you're anything like me, your Facebook feed was flooded with images of this mysterious halo around the sun. Well, being the type of person that I am, of course I needed to:
- Photograph it
- Learn all that I could about what made it happen
Washington, D.C.-based music blog All Things Go was gracious enough to invite me to photograph Bad Books at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. (Thanks again, Jared!) All "Cinco de Drinko" jokes aside (if it's going to have a stupid nickname, shouldn't it at least be "Drinko de Mayo"? Who do I talk to about changing that?), the band put on a great show, complete with faux-Counting Crows covers and plenty of witty banter. Bad Books, a side project of Manchester Orchestra and solo act Kevin Devine, were invited to support Silversun Pickups on a US tour.
What an exciting day! I've shot plenty of events before, but this was the first I'd actually been specifically asked to come do. Below, you'll find over 100 photos from the It Works! Global One Team One Mission in Rockaway, New Jersey. This event was the first of its kind to come to New Jersey, brought here by Kim Haber, a New Jersey local and a Triple Diamond Executive with the company. Pam Sowder, Co-Owner and Director of Marketing at It Works! Global, gave a rousing presentation about the company, its products, and its "extended family," the independent distributors that sell It Works products.
Is there a sweeter smell than that of nostalgia? Introducing the latest toy in my photographic arsenal, the Game Boy Camera! That's right, folks -- these 256x224 pixel head shots will be the talk of the town! Black-and-white is all the rage right now in the low-end photo market, so snap yours up now before my Game Boy Printer runs out of stickers to print them on.
