The Importance of a Professional Headshot

I’d like to take this opportunity to find out a
little bit more about you, the readers, so how about a contest to warm things
up? Two years ago, I jumped into the world of business with both feet first,
and I can confidently say that I had no idea what I was doing. One thing I
learned very quickly is the importance of a professional headshot.

Kami and Nathan Dempsey work at It Works! Global, a network marketing company in the Health & Wellness industry. Since they work from home, the location of their headshot does not necessarily need to be “office professional,” but it isn’t sloppy either. They work as a team, so their headshot works equally as well paired together as they do separate.

So what if you aren’t an actor? You’ll need to make a great
impression on your future boss whether you like it or not. As of May 2012, LinkedIn reported 175 million active
users. As the world’s largest “professional” social network, LinkedIn
allows you to network with companies from the bottom up. If your profile photo
is a cropped image of you in your shorts with a beer, chances are pretty slim
that you’ll make the right impression on the suits at the law firm.

Okay, okay… You
probably wouldn’t be reading this if that was the job you were looking for, but
a professional photo is still important nonetheless. A high-quality photo seems
to trick people into thinking that the subject is actually better than it may
or may not be.

So, let’s get down to
business, shall we? I want to give away a high-quality, professional-looking
headshot photo shoot for free! All that I need from you is this:

  1. The name of your
business (or, if you’re in the market for a new job, your ideal
    profession)
  2. What type of job
    it is
  3. Why a new
headshot would benefit you and your business

That’s it! I want to help
you, but I need to know how first. Are you interested in a free headshot? Leave
me your responses in the comments below or on the corresponding Facebook post.
